Rockers: More Obscurely Referenced Jethro Tull Fan Art

Hi Jethro Tull Fans! I made a weird picture with some somewhat obscure song references for the amateur Jethro Tull Fan. I’m sure die-hard fans will get the references quite easily. I do realize that I left out all the animals from Bungle in the Jungle, but I didn’t feel like drawing a Jungle’s worth of animals…

Rockers: Ian Anderson

Traffic to my website during the holiday off-season is dismal. So, I was thinking about what other interests I have and how I could present them. So I present to you my series of Rock’s greatest musicians. I can’t think of a better way to start than a tribute to my favorite musician, Jethro Tull’s Ian Anderson!

Ian Anderson

Nothing is easy

Nothing is easy

I can still remember being 4 years old sitting in front of my mom’s old gray ghetto blaster rewinding Jethro Tull’s Original Masters  over and over with special emphasis on “The Dead Duck Song” or as it is known “Aqualung”. Now, without any urging on my part my 4 year old son Ian requests “The Dead Duck Song” to be played over and over when we’re driving. Aqualung may not be the most appropriate song for children, but those hours spent in front of that boom box ignited a deep love of music that endures to this day.

I don’t want to write some weird, pretentious essay about the intricacies of Jethro Tull’s technical style and expertise. I just really like the music. I have endless memories of road trips, art projects and isolated brooding with Jethro Tull as the soundtrack. Although I have a dog named Tull and a son named Ian, I’m not some insane Jethro Tull cultist. I have no delusions about the musicians themselves. In 2000, with a little help I had the privilege of meeting Ian Anderson back stage after a concert at Deer Valley, near Park City Utah. Ian wasn’t a magical Rock God but just a regular guy who plays the flute. Music is an art and Ian Anderson is just my favorite artist.
